This years’ tour will lead from Zurich to the hills of Pfannenstiel with views on the alps and Lake Zurich. All will be easy terrain, but a proper mountain bike is required, no city bikes. E-bikes are allowed if fueled by renewable energy sources. Before heading back to Zurich, we will use the Dolder trail for some downhill fun, but there will be a bypass for those who prefer the easy version.

The Swiss Renewable Energy Mountain Bike Tour was initiated by Axpo and University of St. Gallen. Professor Rolf Wüstenhagen and his PhD students organized the first ride in Toggenburg in 2021. One year later, Christoph Sutter from Axpo took us to the Limmern pumped storage plant, where Bertrand Piccard from Solar Impulse joined the group. In 2023, the 3rd tour is organized by schillingpartners, actively extending the target group to renewable energy leaders from key players in Switzerland.

Mountainbike (with or without e-motor), trekking or gravel bike is possible, no city bikes. Light backpack with water, energy bar, light jacket to protect from wind and potentially rain. Only if already available: multi-tool, spare tire, first aid kit. Please wear a helmet for your own protection. Consider further protection for the Dolder trail.
